28. Gunner's Level

The turned plummet is suspended by a hook and ring and moves over a 45° scale. Both the upright and the base carry engraved decoration. The brass bar which is screwed to the underside of the level may be the cut-down remainder of a square-sectioned foot rule with gunner's gauge scales: one of the visible sides is graduated in inches from 9-12, while the other two exposed sides carry partial scales with the ranges 70-125 and 20-50. The instrument has a leather-covered case.
