Early 18th century
Fig. 33 (first on left).
As with other combined gunnery instruments in the exhibition this German instrument has a levelling arc offset from the upright of a sight. The sight moves in a slot against a scale of equal parts from 0-36 while the plummet moves over a scale of degrees from 0-45 and is constrained by a guard. The instrument still has its original leather-covered wooden case.
The maker Burucker was active in Nuremberg in the first half of the 18th century and is also known to have produced sundials (Zinner, p. 277).
