The wooden staff has the ends covered with decorated gilt brass. The staff is graduated and divided in approximately three parts. The first part is divided from 1 to 12 to 1/2 and 1/4, numbered from 1 to 12 by 1. It is inscribed 'DIE GANTZE LENGE'. The second part is similarly divided and numbered from 13 to 24. It is inscribed 'DISSES STABS IST 2 1/2 WERCK'. The third part is similarly divided and numbered from 25 to 28. It is inscribed 'SCHVOCH'. This end of the staff has a central longitudinal hole. They have a similar decoration and can be associated with other parts of mining instruments, namely Epact nos. 88912, 63427, 60949, 39614 and 59706.
