This is, in fact, the
plate that
attaches to the
back of the
instrument. It bears a Geminus-style sundial, similar to a de
Rojas universal projection. The two tropics bear numbers 1 to
12. The meridians are engraved every hour. Both ends are
labeled with the zodiacal signs.
