The Barnett Collection, bequeathed to the
Museum by T. G. Barnett, a Birmingham jeweller and goldsmith,
consisted chiefly of watches, clocks, and sundials, and
contained one astrolabe. Barnett acquired it about 1925. It
had previously belonged to ‘Ali Hikmet, of Kirkuk, Iraq, who
had taught astronomy with its aid until his death in 1924.
