Dividing the Earth: Climates
In antiquity, the earth was divided into parallel clime zones according to latitude, as discussed in both Ptolemy's Geographia and Sacrobosco's Sphaera, as well as in Apianus' Cosmographia. Renaissance geographers typically showed nine such climatic zones, as Apianus does here. He has also included the clime zones on the large world map.
