The BC342 was a robust military shortwave receiver, used by both the British and U.S. Armies during and after WWII. At the end of the war, many sets were released as military surplus and became popular with radio hams worldwide in the late 1940s, and 1950s. This was especially due to ease of adapting the set to different frequency bands.
