In September 1925 a British Company, the International Wetsern Electric Company, was taken over by the International Telephone and Telegraph Company and its name was changed to the Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd. (STC). Previously vavles manufactured by the Western Electric Company had traded under the name of WecoValves. Hence, this valve can be dated post-1925.

Type 6J5G is single triode housed within glass envelope. Electrode assembly is formed on a glass pinch in traditional style. Anode plates are formed to leave oval cavity for grid and cathode.
