Type DEV was intended as a dull emitter replacement for the Type V24 valve, and was of similar structure and appearance to the Type DEQ valve. It had a filament rating identical to that of the Type DEQ but also had pronounced differences: different glass supports for the anode, longer gird electrodes, and different coloured paint on the exterior surface of the bulb and on the anode cap. It was used in, amongst others, wireless telephone sets.
