Provenance
Evans bought it from Percy Webster, his
main London dealer, in 1921. It was part {??presly} of the
collection of mathematical instruments from the Strozzi
family collection sold by Frederick Muller & Co.,
Amsterdam, on 28-29 November 1911. The arms on the throne are
those of Franciscus Paduanius, of Forli, Italy, a physician
to royalty and nobility, including to the Emperor Rudolf II;
Rudolf's instrument maker Habermel made many instruments
bearing this coat of arms.
