This set, first introduced in the mid-1920s, was the first set to be used with a constant-speed wind generator. This example is probably from Captain Courtney's 1928 transatlantic attempt (see footnote to MSS 860); if so, according to information in the Courtney file (MSS 359) it is modified to telegraphic use only, the telephone elements being removed.
