6. Protractor and Gunner's Gauge

A German semi-circular protractor whose arm carries gunner's scales for stone, iron and lead. The small size of the instrument limits the length of the gauge scales and means that only small shot can be measured. Unlike the Habermel compendium (catalogue no. 5) these scales are meant to give direct weights in ounces when a measured diameter is read against them.
