Diptych Dial
Signed by Hans Tucher
Dated 1579; Nuremberg
Ivory and brass; 110 x 65 x 13 mm

This instrument is a typical example of a Nuremberg diptych dial made by the Tucher family. It contains an equatorial dial and lunar dial, vertical and horizontal pin gnomon dials, and vertical and horizontal string gnomon dials. As usual there are extensive lists of places corresponding to particular latitudes.

As with all dials from this period it is not possible to say whether it was made by Hans Tucher II or Hans Tucher III.
