Astrolabe
Unsigned
Later 16th century; Spanish
Gilt copper; 85 mm in diameter

In this astrolabe there are two plates, calibrated for the latitudes of two Spanish cities. On the back the meridians and parallels are depicted in accordance with the orthographic projection of the Spaniard Juan de Rojas.

These factors suggest a Spanish origin for this unsigned and undated instrument.
