Signed by Johann Christoph Keller
circa 1580; Linz
Silver; 85 x 62 x 53 mm

The dial has an engraved base with two pillars supporting the adjustable hour ring, so that the instrument could be used at any latitude. There is a levelling plummet hanging from a centrally placed latitude scale. On the base plate is inset a compass with magnetic deviation indicated.

The base itself is decorated with flowers, leaves and two angels on the sides of the compass.
