Gilt brass; 70 x 70 x 17 mm

This device includes two shadow squares, a horizontal sundial, compass, nocturnal and quadrant. It is one of the earliest surviving instruments by its maker, who was later to become instrument maker and goldsmith to the Bavarian court.
