Polyhedral Dial
Signed by Ulrich Schniep
Dated 1567; Munich
Gilt brass; 25 x 25 x 105 mm

This unusual polyhedral dial is in the form of a square section pillar, with dials engraved on two sides.

The other two sides are engraved with a very unusual allegorical figure of justice holding a star, and a table of ruling planets for each day of the week.

The hinged lid of the dial is engraved with a dome and finial. The inner part contains a compass.
