In this session students will be introduced to the early history the moving image through hands-on exploration of a variety of Victorian optical toys for animation. Students will then be set a design challenge working in groups to design and build a model prototype of a museum exhibit to demonstrate the workings of an early optical animation device.
This workshop provides an ideal introduction to the Museum and a real context in which to apply design considerations.
