Brief Description: This copper alloy instrument stands on a flat tripod foot. The limb is carried by trunnions on two pillars. A joint in the limb allows the upper section to pivot. A rack and pinion within this section moves the monocular body tube for coarse focusing. An eyepiece can push into the top of the body and the nose has an internal thread for objectives. A vertical screw operating on a lever on the body, moves the nose for fine focusing. The stage plate is mechanical and specimens are held by a sliding sprung bracket. A condenser assembly with adjustable focus is fixed to the underside of the stage. A post on the lower end of the limb carries the plano-concave mirror. The microscope is housed in a hinged mahogany case with handles on both shorter sides. It has wooden supports inside for storing the instrument and accessories, and an accessory drawer which is opened by pulling up a pin in the front lip of the base. The accessories in the case are: five eyepieces; four objectives in cans; a key for the trunnions; three dark wells and the supporting arm; three stages; a substage aperture disc; an angled mirror on a collar in a can; a bull's-eye lens on an articulated arm; a fishplate with a short fabric cover; copper alloy forceps; two Lieberkühn in cans, one of which is attached to an objective; and a box with twenty three glass specimen slides.
