Brief Description: Tall wooden upright standing on a four-legged Iron base. The upright supports numerous glass tubes and flasks. There is a gear system with chains on the proper left side of the upright. One panel can be removed as it is currently held in place with copper alloy swing clasps.

An early example of a Sprengel Mercury Pump, made by Alvergniat frères of Paris.
Provenance: Transferred from the Department of Chemistry, Oxford, in 1925, per Professor Frederick Soddy. From the Duke of Marlborough's collection, presented to the University by the Duchess of Marlborough after his death.
