Compass Microscope in Case, English, c. 1725-50

Brief Description: Simple microscope with turned ivory handle. Stage forceps and live cell, on an iron rod,  are attached by compass joint to the frame. Accessories include a black and white disc in a copper alloy mount, four objectives each with Lieberkühn's, and tweezers. Box is covered with black fishskin and lined with green velvet.
Provenance: Deposited by the Royal Microscopical Society with their collection.
