Brief Description: 75th Anniversary Commemorative Plate, with painted illustrations of Guglielmo Marconi, Poldhu and Cape Cod on front. With numerous quotes, historical details and manufacture details on rear of plate. Made of plain white glazed bone china with gold-plated rim. Designed to celebrate 75th anniversary of two-way wireless link between the Cape Cod (U.S.A.) and Poldhu, England (Europe) on 18th January, 1903.
Primary Inscriptions: "Guglielmo Marconi / N. America Cape Cod Poldhu England / 1903 1978 / To Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of first / Two-way Wireless link between the U.S.A and Europe." printed on front surface of plate. "Designed by Patrick J. Boston. / Limited edition of 1,000 plates. / Piece Number ..................." printed on rear surface of plate. "Acknowledgements to / GEC-MARCONI ELECTRONICS LTD / and to the / Cornish Radio Amateur Club / for Historical data and advice." printed on rear of plate.
