Group portrait of the astronomers involved in the Oxford expedition to Aswan to view the total solar eclipse of August 30, 1905, gathered at the temporary observatory; H. H. Turner is fourth from left, with 9 others and 3 native assistants. Packing cases and structures are visible behind them, a theodolite on a tripod at right; the canvas screens laid in front of the group are probably awaiting erection (compare 12880).
One of a group of 18 photographs taken on the Oxford expedition to Aswan to view the total solar eclipse of August 30, 1905; probably by F. A. Bellamy.
