Collection of archival material, and some chemicals, from the Dyson Perrins Laboratory, Oxford, mostly assembled by Sir Ewart Jones (Professor 1955-78), partly in collaboration with the late J. C. Smith (1900-1984); it consists of the following groups: papers relating to chemical verse; papers relating to J.C. Smith's history of the DPL (c.1969 & 1975) chiefly correspondence; collected materials on W.H. Perkin jnr. & family; collected materials on C. W. Dyson Perrins & family, & the Lea & Perrins firm; some miscellaneous items concerning the DPL & the history of Oxford science generally; a group photograph of the Solvay conference, 1931; 2 framed early DPL group photographs; a small box of old lantern slides; 2 boxes of Sir Ewart Jones's 35mm. lecture slides; 6 old jars & phials containing crystals; a test tube of gold; a collection of Perkins's specimens of synthesis of terpenes & related; a collection of Robinson's specimens of anthocyanins.
