Constructing the astrolabe

The geometry underlying the construction of an astrolabe was explained in many texts. An instrumental tool to assist in laying out the lines is included on an unusual sector [1]. Look out for the pair of lines marked 'Diameter Astrolabij'. The inscription on [2] tells us the tables that were used: 'Giulio Cesare Luchino of Bologna supervised the construction of this astrolabe for himself according to the Tabuae Bergenses in the year 1558'.
