Artist Details

Albert Chevallier Tayler (1862-1925) was born in Essex, and trained at the Slade School. After his education, he based in Newlyn as a one of "Newlyn Artists" until 1895 when he moved to London and gained popularity. In 1910, Tayler became a full Member of the Royal Academy exhibiting 49 paintings at the Academy. In 1992, this portrait of Marconi was commissioned for the Illustrated London News. By that time Tayler was already one of the most celebrated artists of the time. He must have produced this portrait at his studio in North London.
