English CASE of DRAWING INSTRUMENTS
Early 18th century

Silver, gold, steel, etc.; with original silver-mounted, fish-skin covered wooden case. The sector is signed, "R. Glynne Fecit"; the plotting scale also is signed. Undated.

The set of instruments includes: a combined parallel ruler and protractor; a sector; a plotting scale and diagonal scale; a pair of dividers; another pair of dividers with a detachable point for which can be substituted a pen, a pencil holder or rotating steel points for drawing dotted lines. A silver drawing pen and perhaps a pencil and a rule are missing.

The instruments and the case are finely ornamented with engraved decoration. Inside the cover of the case are an engraved picture of Atlas, the inscription, "[R] . Glynne Fecit", and engraved and à jour ornamentation.
