Brief Description: Polyhedral dial in gilt brass, 100mm in height, attributed to Nicolaus Kratzer.
The sides are irregular octagons, whose angles provide polar and equinoctial dials for latitude 52° around the edge of the block.
Primary Inscriptions: Unsigned and undated. Engraved with the arms of Cardinal Wolsey, York Minster and a cardinal's hat on two sides.
Provenance: Presented by Lewis Evans in 1924. Bought by Lewis Evans from P. Webster, 37 Great Portland Street, London in December 1899. Made for Cardinal Wolsey, Archbishop of York.
