Brief Description: | Gilt brass eight-sided case with the hour-ring of ivory inset around the magnetic compass. On top of the lid is a miniature in enamel of a couple; inside the lid is engraved a picture of a hare. Underneath is engraved a picture of a cock crowing. This was probably an engagement or wedding present. This dial is for the latitude of about 48°. |
