Brief Description: Optical Cabinet, unsigned but probably by Martin. Features a mahogany box with inbuilt wooden supports lined with green felt (.9). Box is opened via a key operated lock (.8).
Cabinet consists of a scioptric ball housed in a wooden square with two pin holes in opposing corners (.1). A telescope with wooden barrel and copper alloy caps screws into one end of scioptric ball (.2). A screw barrel microscope screws into other end of ball. Microscope has spring stage attached to opposite end to screw barrel (.3). Also present is a drum microscope with detachable eyepiece and objectives. Circular stage plate has two specimen clasps. Plate sits above inbuilt mirror. A copper alloy removable cap sits on end of barrel beneath mirror (.4). Five objectives, consisting of three wide angle lenses and two narrow (.5), three ivory sliders each with four specimens (.6), two glass phials, one with cork stopper and two glass discs (.7).
