German CRUCIFIX CLOCK and VERTICAL SUNDIAL
17th century

The movement is signed, ".D.K.ENNS."; undated
Movement of brass and steel; wooden base, with a draw for the key; gilt brass crucifix, figures, globe and movement case.
Verge escapement, with later balance-wheel, balance-spring, regulator index, balance-cover and coqueret; stackfreed; striking movement.
The time is indicated by the figure encircling the globe which surmounts the cross. This globe rotates behind the fixed index attached to the cross.
On the back of the cross is a vertical sundial, which is orientated with the aid of the small compass at the foot of the cross.
