Dial decoration

One leaf of the dial by Reinmann [1] has engraved figures of men using instruments: a cylinder dial, a diptych dial, an armillary sphere and an astrolabe. Conrad Karner [2] includes an image of the Virgin. Hans Troschel [3] has St Helena on one outer face, while the other has Helena's husband, Constantine. The large dial by Troschel is elaborately decorated.

The dial by Ulrich Schniep of Munich [4] does not really belong with the ivory diptychs from Nuremberg but is included for comparison. He depicts Judith after she has beheaded Holophernes.
