Terrestrial globe of coloured and varnished printed paper gores on a central core; fishskin covered pasteboard case. Signed, 'CARY's Pocket GLOBE; agreeable to the latest DISCOVERIES LONDON: Pub- by J. & W. Cary Strand Apr. 1 1791'.

Shown on the globe are the tracks of Captain Cook's various voyages and several of the English explorers. Pasted to the inside of the case are 'A TABLE OF Latitudes & Longitudes of Places not given on this GLOBE', and a map of 'The WORLD as known in CAESAR'S Time agreeable to D'Anville'. Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville (1697-1782) was the leading historical geographer of the eighteenth century.
