Signed, on the back "h {T within a triangle} b" [i.e. Hans Bamman of Schmalkalden, Thuringia]; dated, also on the back, "1490". Plates, alidade and rete, missing. Brass.

The back is shown. It is engraved with the following circular scales (starting from the outside): scale of degrees; zodiac with symbols of the ruling planets; the 28 lunar mansions; calendar scale. Within are a diagram of unequal hours and a shadow square.
