English PORTABLE GALVANOMETER
c.1910

Unipivot moving-coil type.
Signed "ROBT. W. PAUL. LONDON no. 591"
Micro-ammeter with cast metal case, enamelled; paper scale, centre zero.
Reistance 41.1 ohms at 20°C; sensitivity division per micro-ampere.
Needle unlocked by plunger mechanism in base.
In R. W. Paul's instrument (1903), the moving coil is circular instead of rectangular and is supported by only a single pivot in the top of the soft iron spherical core; this has reduced the friction and increased the sensitivity of the galvanometer.
