Brief Description:

This astrolabe features a rare type of rete, called 'ship' rete or zawraq. It consists of two horizon bands and two meridian bands which look like two inverted ships. Each horizon band is marked as a 'ship' and the corresponding meridian band as its 'mast'. This arrangement creates, in effect, a complete meridian, made of two halves.
