Brief Description: This astrolabe resembles Persian astrolabes of the 1600s CE. One of its plates, however, is inscribed latitude, 41°31', that is the latitude of Constantinople. This shows that the maker of the instrument, which is unsigned and undated, was probably catering for an Ottoman audience.
