Brief Description: | A small Ottoman astrolabe dated 1089 A.H (1678/9 CE) with plates inscribed for the cities of Diyarbakır, Erzerum, Edirne, Mosul, Trebizond, the Kaba in Mecca, and, probably, Istanbul. Its simple and clear design suggests this instrument was a working tool used in the Kurdish region of present-day eastern Turkey and northen Iraq.
