Babbage Esq’, containing (loosely) six numbered gatherings of blue foolscap writing paper bearing manuscript transcriptions (in the hand of H. W. Buxton or possibly Buxton’s amanuensis F. P., who adds some editorial notes), with diagrams, of various notes and unfinished writings by Charles Babbage (mostly from original manuscripts in MSS Buxton 7 and 9). See entries of individual items, which give original numbers of gatherings. Dates given are of the material transcribed. The transcriptions were done in the 1870s. MSS Buxton 8.1 to 8.5 are continuously paginated, but 8.4 paginated out of sequence between 8.1 and 8.2; 8.6 and 8.7 are each separately paginated. |
