Instruments of Ottoman Turkey
The Ottoman empire took control of large areas of southern and eastern Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. Its military challenge was not reflected in mathematics, where traditional instruments such as astrolabes and quadrants continued to be made and used. The compass [5] may have been part of a sundial.
