REPEATING MECHANISM
?c. 1780 - 1790

Brass and steel. Unsigned and undated.
This type of mechanism was used in conjunction with a watch. The watch was placed so that its winding spindle engaged in the small projecting spindle on the mechanism. The dials of the mechanism were then set to the same time as that shown by the watch. As in a repeating clock, the mechanism struck the time when a cord was pulled.
