OILS OF CEDAR AND SPIKENARD

Specimen of oil of cedar, prepared by Charles Hatchett in 1836. Also a specimen of oil of spikenard (the "precious ointment" with which Mary Magdalene is said to have anointed the feet of Christ), prepared by Charles Hatchett in 1830. Hatchett was a member of Merton College, Oxford, and one of the original Fellows of the Linnean Society.
