Comparable instruments
Three similar levels were seen on display in the Benaki Museum, Athens in September 2002. Described as builder's levels, they had a heavy brass plummet, though the levels themselves were perhaps in bronze. They each had a triangular frame with some decorative forms in the body of the triangle. One of them was dated 1827.
