Early 19th century.

Brass, etc.; with original mahogany case. Signed, "Dollond London"; undated. Inscribed, "no. 33 Royal Astronomical Society Presented by Miss Sheepshanks."
With small funnel, and original printed directions for use.

This instrument belonged to Richard Sheepshanks, F.R.S. (1794-1855), the astronomer, who was Secretary of the Royal Astronomical Society from 1892.
