Ivory, brass, etc; with original leather-covered case. Signed, "RAVILLIVS, M. D. XXXVII".

For latitude 45°. There is a small compass for orientating the scaphe. In the lid is a larger compass.

Alexander Ravillius is known also as the maker of an armillary sphere, dated 1542, formerly in the Mensing Collection (no. 2), now in the Adler Planetarium, Chicago.
