?Persian ASTRONOMICAL INSTRUMENT, QIBLA-INDICATOR and
HORIZONTAL PIN-GNOMON DIAL 1283 A.H. = 1866-7 A.D.
Brass. Dated '1283 [A.H.]'.
This instrument is almost identical to the instrument, by
'Alâ' ad-dîn, 1281 A.H., no. 57-84/267, which is also shown here.
In addition to the scales on that instrument it includes, in the space
above the two small quadrants, a Qibla -indicator, a horizontal
pin-gnomon dial (gnomon missing) for Babylonian hours, and a small
European compass.
