Gilt brass; with original wood and pasteboard case covered with blind-tooled leather. Signed, "CHRISTOFFERVS. SCHISLER. ME. FECIT. AVGVSTE. ANNO. DOMINI. 1556."
Includes:
1. A combined nocturnal and volvelle giving the length of day and night throughout the year in latitudes 46°, 48° and 50°.
2. A combined lunar volvelle and wind-rose.
3. A horizontal dial, adjustable for use in latitudes 42°, 45°, 48°, 51° and 54°.
4. A table of the latitudes of 30 places.
5. A compass. When the lower leaf of the compendium is closed this compass appears in the centre of the horizontal dial (no. 3 above).
6. "HORE. PLANETARVM. INSTRVMENTVM.", consisting of a solar declination scale, unequal hour-lines and horizon lines within a circular equal hour scale.
