Gilt and silvered brass. Signed, "CHRISTOPHORVS SCHISSLER SENIOR FACIEBAT AVGVSTÆ VIN: A.°. 1608."
Includes:
1. A lunar volvelle and aspectarium.
2. A map of Southern Germany, with a rotating index for finding directions from Augsburg.
3. An inclining dial adjustable for latitudes 33°-60°; and a compass.
4. A circular table of the latitudes of 36 places.
Christoph Schissler the Elder died in 1608; this instrument is, therefore, one of his last works.
