Orrery and globes grouping
There was substantial literary precedent for the grouping of a pair of globes and an orrery at All Souls. Among 18th-century texts treating the three instruments together, note (from King and Millburn, pp. 174, 176):
Joseph Harris, The Description and Use of the Globes, and the Orrery (1731, 12 editions by 1783)
David Jennings, Introduction to the Use of the Globes and the Orrery: with the Application of Astronomy to Chronology (1739)
John Rowning, 'The Description and Use of the Orrery and the Globes' in part IV of A Compendious System of Natural Philosophy (1743 edition and subsequently)
