Dear Sir

I would like to offer for acceptance some waxed paper negatives taken by my father the late Major General A. Y. Shortt, Bombay Staff Corps, being two of our family grave at St Michaels, Dumfries, taken between 1875-80, and some of one of the Residencies in a Native State in the Bombay Presidency when he was Political Resident taken about 1860.-5. I much regret that I cannot find prints of them.

Yours faithfully
A. G. Shortt

Dear Dr Taylor

The wax paper negatives of which I spoke to you yesterday were taken by my father Major General A. Y. Shortt, when he was Political Resident in one of the Bombay Presidency Native States - Palanpur or Baroda. It is likely that such inventions would reach India rather later than in England but it could not well have been before 1860 and not later than 1870

Yours sincerely
A. G. Shortt
